  1. Lena

Hey, how was your Saturday? You were meant to go swimming, weren't you?

  2. Markus

Yeah, well, that's the thing. I turned up at the pool and it was shut. Some pipe had burst or something.

  3. Lena

Oh no! Didn't they say anything online?

  4. Markus

Apparently they posted it at seven in the morning, but I never checked. So there I was, standing in front of the door with my towel and goggles, feeling a bit daft.

  5. Lena

Ugh, how annoying. What did you do then?

  6. Markus

Honestly, I had no idea. I just started walking through the park next door, thinking I'd head home eventually. And then I heard music.

  7. Lena

    Music? What kind?

  8. Markus

A little outdoor gig. Some local bands on a makeshift stage near the pond. It was free. I just wandered in and ended up staying for about three hours.

  9. Lena

No way! That actually sounds brilliant. Who was playing?

  10. Markus

I didn't know most of them, but one band was really good – this mix of indie and folk. I chatted to the guitarist afterwards, and he said they only play there twice a year.

  11. Lena

Twice a year, and you just stumbled into it? You're kidding.

  12. Markus

I know, right? I felt really lucky. And the best bit – I'd been in such a foul mood about the pool, and by the end I'd totally forgotten about it.

  13. Lena

Well, I'm glad it worked out. Funny thing, though – I was in that park on Saturday too. I was reading on a bench near the playground at the other end. I couldn't hear a thing.

  14. Markus

Wait, you were there? We could've met up!

  15. Lena

I know! I didn't even know the gig was on. Next time, just text me, yeah?

  16. Markus

Deal. And I'll keep an eye on the council's events page – apparently that's where they posted about the gig. I'll send you the link if anything comes up.

  17. Lena

Good idea. I'll have a look too – I clearly missed it this time.

  18. Markus

At least now we both know where to check.
