  1. Markus

Hey Lena, you alright? You've been staring out of the window for ages.

  2. Lena

Honestly? Not really. I've had this dull headache since the first lesson. The maths test is in two lessons. I couldn't focus on revision last night either – I kept going over everything in my head.

  3. Markus

Oh no. Does your head throb?

  4. Lena

A bit. But mostly I keep thinking I'll just blank the moment I look at the paper.

  5. Markus

Yeah, I get that. During the history test in October, I stared at the questions and my brain just switched off. I froze.

  6. Lena

Exactly. And everyone else looks so calm, which somehow makes it worse.

  7. Markus

You never really know how the others are feeling, do you? Want to sit somewhere quieter? Or have a quick word with Mr Davies before the test? Then he'll know you're not feeling great.

  8. Lena

I don't know. I don't want to make a whole thing of it. What if he thinks I'm just making excuses?

  9. Markus

You've genuinely got a headache and you're worried. It's worth telling him. I can come with you, if you want.

  10. Lena

Hm. Okay. Would you walk over there with me? I feel a bit silly going on my own.

  11. Markus

    Of course I will.

  12. Lena

And I'll ask him what I should do. I don't want to keep going round in circles in my head.

  13. Markus

We can ask what the options are. You don't have to figure it all out on your own.

  14. Lena

Thanks, Markus. It already feels a bit less awful, just saying it all out loud.

  15. Markus

That's what I'm here for. Right, come on – let's go and find him before the bell.

  16. Lena

    Right. Let's go.
