- the truth, but the truth is dangerous? Should he take revenge? Should he wait? Should he trust people? Should he hide his pain?
- Should he follow his heart or his duty? This is why Hamlet is still powerful even today. Because many people can understand
- Hamlet's confusion. Sometimes life hurts us, but we do not know what to do. Sometimes people close to us betray us.
- Sometimes the truth is painful. And sometimes the biggest battle is not outside. It is inside our own mind.

- The Ghost and the Secret The story begins in the kingdom of Denmark. Denmark is a cold and powerful country.
- At night, guards are standing outside the castle of Elsinore. The air is dark. The place is silent.
- But, the guards are afraid because for the last few nights, they've seen something strange. A ghost has appeared near the castle.
- And this ghost looks exactly like the old king of Denmark. The old king's name was King Hamlet. He was the father of Prince Hamlet.
- King Hamlet was strong, brave, and respected by the people. But, now he is dead. Everyone has been told that he died
- suddenly. People believe that a snake bit him while he was sleeping in the garden. After his death, his brother Claudius
- became the new king. Claudius did not only take the throne. He also married King Hamlet's wife, Queen Gertrude.
- This means Hamlet's uncle became the king. And Hamlet's mother became his uncle's wife.
- For Prince Hamlet, this is very painful. His father has died, his uncle has become king, and his mother has married too quickly.
- Hamlet feels broken inside. He feels that the world has become dirty and false. He wears black clothes because he is
- still mourning his father. But the people in the palace want him to move on quickly. King Claudius speaks to Hamlet in a soft
- way. He says that death is natural. He says every son loses a father one day.
- He tells Hamlet not to remain sad for too long. But Hamlet does not feel comforted. He feels disgusted.
- He feels that Claudius is acting kind, but something about him feels wrong. Hamlet also feels hurt by his mother. He thinks,
- "How could she forget my father so quickly? How could she marry my uncle so soon?" Hamlet loved his father deeply.
- To him, his father was noble, powerful, and loving. But Claudius feels like a weak and false replacement.
- Inside his heart, Hamlet is full of grief. Grief means deep sadness after losing someone.
- But Hamlet's grief is not simple. It is mixed with anger, confusion, disappointment, and suspicion. At the same time, Denmark is also facing
- danger from outside. A young prince from Norway named Fortinbras wants to attack Denmark. His father had lost land to King Hamlet
- in the past. Now Fortinbras wants to take that land back. So the country is not peaceful.
- There is sadness inside the palace. There is danger outside the kingdom. And there is fear at night because of the ghost.
- One of Hamlet's close friends is Horatio. Horatio is honest, intelligent, and loyal.
- The guards tell Horatio about the ghost. At first, Horatio does not believe them. He thinks maybe they are imagining things.
- But then, the ghost appears again. Horatio sees it with his own eyes. The ghost is wearing armor like a
- warrior. It looks exactly like dead King Hamlet. Horatio is shocked. He tries to speak to the ghost, but the
- ghost does not answer. Then, it disappears. Horatio becomes worried. He thinks this ghost may be a sign that
- something terrible is wrong in Denmark. So, Horatio decides to tell Prince Hamlet. When Hamlet hears about the ghost, he
- becomes very serious. He asks many questions. Was the ghost wearing armor? Did it look sad?
- Did it speak? Did it look like his father? The answers make Hamlet restless. He decides that he must see this ghost
- himself. That night, Hamlet goes outside with Horatio and the guards. The night is cold. The castle is quiet. Everyone is
- waiting. Then suddenly, the ghost appears. Hamlet sees it. His heart is shaken.
- It looks exactly like his dead father. The ghost signals Hamlet to follow. Horatio and the guards become afraid. They tell Hamlet not to go.
- They think the ghost may be evil. Maybe it will harm him. Maybe it will make him mad. But Hamlet does not listen.
- He is desperate to know the truth. He follows the ghost into the darkness. When they are alone, the ghost finally speaks.
- The ghost says that it is the spirit of Hamlet's father. It says it cannot rest. It says it is suffering because a
- terrible crime was done. Hamlet listens with fear and pain. Then the ghost reveals the truth. King Hamlet was not killed by a snake.
- He was murdered. And the murderer was Claudius, Hamlet's own uncle. The ghost says that while King Hamlet
- was sleeping in the garden, Claudius came quietly and poured poison into his ear. The poison entered his body and killed
- him. Then Claudius took his crown. And he married his wife. When Hamlet hears this, his whole world
- breaks. His suspicion was true. His uncle is not only a false king, he is a murderer. He killed Hamlet's
- father. He stole the throne. He married Hamlet's mother. The ghost tells Hamlet to take revenge. It asks Hamlet to punish Claudius for
- the murder. But the ghost also says something important. It tells Hamlet not to hurt his mother.
- Queen Gertrude may be weak. She may have married too quickly. But Hamlet must leave her judgment to heaven and to her own guilt. Then the ghost disappears.
- Hamlet is left alone in the darkness. His heart is full of fire. His mind is full of shock. His life has changed forever.
- Before this night, Hamlet was only a grieving son. After this night, he becomes a son with a terrible duty.
- He must find the truth. He must hide his feelings. He must watch Claudius carefully. And maybe he must take revenge.
- When Horatio and the guards return, Hamlet makes them promise that they will not tell anyone what they saw. He says that from now on, he may act
- strangely. He may act like a mad person. But they must not reveal his secret. This is the beginning of Hamlet's plan.
- He decides to hide his real thoughts. He decides to watch everyone. He decides to act mad so people will not understand what he truly knows.
- But deep inside, Hamlet is not simply acting. His mind is already becoming heavy. Because now he has to carry a secret
- that can destroy a kingdom. His father was murdered. His uncle is the killer. His mother is married to the killer.
- And Hamlet must decide what to do next. Chapter two. Hamlet's madness and the trap for the king. After that terrible night,
- Hamlet's life changes completely. He cannot live like a normal prince anymore. He knows a secret that nobody else
- knows. His father was murdered. His uncle Claudius is the murderer. And that same murderer is now sitting on
- the throne as the king of Denmark. Hamlet feels angry, but he is also careful. He knows he cannot simply accuse
- Claudius without proof. If he says, "The ghost told me," people may not believe him. They may think he is mad.
- They may think grief has destroyed his mind. Claudius is powerful. He is the king.
- He has soldiers, ministers, and the court on his side. So Hamlet decides to watch him quietly. He begins to act strange.
- Sometimes he speaks in a confusing way. Sometimes he answers people with strange sentences. Sometimes he behaves as if his mind is
- disturbed. People in the palace begin to think, "What is wrong with Prince Hamlet? Has his father's death made him mad?
- Is he sick in his mind?" But Hamlet has a reason. He wants people to think he is mad, so they will not understand his real plan.
- If people think he is crazy, they may speak more freely around him. They may not suspect that he is watching everything.
- But this fake madness creates new problems. One person who becomes very worried is Polonius.
- Polonius is an old advisor in the palace. He is the father of Ophelia. Ophelia is a young woman whom Hamlet
- loves. She is gentle, innocent, and obedient to her father. Before all this darkness, Hamlet and
- Ophelia had a close relationship. Hamlet had written letters to her. He had spoken sweetly to her. Ophelia believed that Hamlet loved her.
- But now Hamlet's behavior becomes strange. He acts cold. He acts confused. He comes to Ophelia looking disturbed.
- His clothes are messy. His face looks pale. He holds her hand and looks at her silently.
- Then he leaves without explaining anything. Ophelia becomes scared. She tells her father, Polonius. Polonius immediately thinks he
- understands the problem. He believes Hamlet has gone mad because of love. He thinks Hamlet loves Ophelia, but
- Ophelia has rejected him, and that rejection has broken his mind. But Polonius does not understand the real truth.
- Hamlet is not mad because of love. Hamlet is carrying the pain of murder, betrayal, and revenge. Still, Polonius goes to King Claudius
- and Queen Gertrude. He tells them, "I know why Hamlet is acting mad. He is mad because of love for Ophelia."
- Claudius listens, but he is not fully convinced. He is worried about Hamlet because Hamlet is not just any young man. Hamlet
- is the prince. And Claudius knows he has a terrible secret. A guilty person is always afraid when
- someone starts acting strange. Claudius begins to wonder, "Does Hamlet know something? Is his madness real?
- Or is he hiding something?" So, Claudius and Gertrude call two of Hamlet's old friends to the palace. Their names are Rosencrantz and
- Guildenstern. They were Hamlet's childhood friends. The king and queen ask them to spend time with Hamlet.
- They want them to find out why Hamlet has changed. At first, Hamlet is happy to see them. But very quickly, he understands that
- they did not come only as friends. They were sent by the king and queen. This hurts Hamlet because now even his old friends are
- being used to spy on him. Hamlet asks them directly, "Were you sent for?" They try to hide the truth,
- but Hamlet is too intelligent. He sees through them. He understands that the palace is full of watching eyes.
- Claudius is watching him. Polonius is watching him. Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are watching him.
- Everyone wants to know what is happening inside his mind. But Hamlet also watches them. This is what makes the story
- interesting. The palace becomes like a place of secrets. Everyone is pretending.
- Claudius pretends to be a good king. Gertrude pretends everything is normal. Polonius pretends to be wise. Rosencrantz and Guildenstern pretend to
- be loyal friends. And Hamlet pretends to be mad. But behind all these masks, the truth is waiting.
- During this time, a group of actors arrives at the palace. In Shakespeare's time, actors often traveled from place to place and
- performed plays. Hamlet becomes excited when he sees them. He loves theater.
- He understands that drama can show truth in a powerful way. Then a brilliant idea comes to his mind. The ghost told him that Claudius
- murdered his father by pouring poison into his ear while he was sleeping in the garden. But Hamlet still wants stronger proof.
- What if the ghost was not honest? What if the ghost was evil? What if it was trying to push him into murder?
- Hamlet is thoughtful. He does not want to act blindly. So he creates a plan. He asks the actors to perform a play in
- front of King Claudius. But not just any play. He wants the play to show a story very similar to his father's murder.
- In the play, a king will be poisoned by a close relative. The murderer will take the throne. And Hamlet will watch Claudius's face
- during the performance. If Claudius is guilty, Hamlet believes his face will show it. His reaction will reveal the truth.
- Hamlet says in his mind that the play will catch the conscience of the king. Conscience means the inner voice that knows right and wrong.
- This becomes Hamlet's trap. Not a trap with weapons, a trap with truth. Before the play, Hamlet continues to act
- strange. Polonius and Claudius decide to test him using Ophelia. They tell Ophelia to meet Hamlet while
- they secretly listen. This is a cruel moment. Ophelia is used like a tool. She loves Hamlet, but she obeys her
- father. Hamlet comes and begins to speak one of the most famous speeches in world literature.
- He thinks deeply about life and death. He wonders whether it is better to live and suffer or to die and end the pain. This is the famous to be or not to be
- moment. In simple words, Hamlet is asking, "Should I continue living with this pain?
- Or would death be easier?" He is not just acting here. His heart is truly heavy. He is tired of betrayal, tired of lies,
- tired of the false palace, tired of his own confusion. Then Ophelia approaches him. She tries to return the gifts and
- letters he gave her. Hamlet becomes angry and hurt. He feels that Ophelia is also being used against him.
- He speaks harshly to her. He tells her to go away. He says love and beauty cannot be trusted.
- He tells her to go to a nunnery. A nunnery means a religious place where women live away from marriage and worldly life.
- Ophelia is heartbroken. She does not understand why Hamlet is speaking to her like this. She thinks the noble and loving prince
- she knew is gone. But Hamlet is not only speaking to Ophelia. He is speaking from pain.
- He feels betrayed by women because his mother married Claudius so quickly. He feels watched. He feels trapped. He feels alone.
- This scene is very painful because Ophelia becomes innocent damage in Hamlet's bigger battle. After Hamlet leaves, Claudius
- understands something important. Hamlet is not mad because of love. His sadness is deeper. His words are dangerous.
- Claudius becomes more afraid. He decides that Hamlet may be a threat. He begins thinking about sending Hamlet away to England.
- Later the play begins. The whole court gathers. King Claudius is there. Queen Gertrude is there.
- Polonius is there. Ophelia is there. Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are there. Hamlet also comes, but he acts playful
- and strange. He sits near Ophelia and speaks in a sharp, confusing way. But inside, his mind is focused.
- He is waiting for one thing. Claudius' reaction. The actors begin the play. First, they show a king and queen.
- The queen promises that she will love her husband forever. She says that if her husband dies, she will never marry again.
- Hamlet watches his mother during this part because this reminds him of Gertrude. His mother had loved King Hamlet.
- But after his death, she married Claudius quickly. Then the play continues. A murderer enters while the king is
- sleeping. The murderer pours poison into the sleeping king's ear. This is the exact image from the ghost's
- story. Hamlet watches Claudius carefully. And then it happens. Claudius suddenly becomes disturbed.
- He stands up. He cannot watch anymore. He calls for light. He stops the play and leaves.
- This reaction tells Hamlet everything. Now Hamlet believes the ghost was telling the truth. Claudius is guilty.
- The play has revealed the murderer. Hamlet is excited and angry. He finally has proof. But now the danger becomes greater.
- Because Claudius also understands that Hamlet may know the truth. After the play, Claudius goes away deeply shaken.
- He feels guilt. He knows his crime is no longer completely hidden. He tries to pray.
- He kneels and speaks to heaven. He admits that he murdered his brother. He admits that he took the crown. He admits that he married the queen.
- But he cannot truly repent. Repent means to feel sorry and turn away from sin. Claudius wants forgiveness, but he does
- not want to give up the things he gained from murder. He wants to keep the crown. He wants to keep the queen. He wants to keep his
- power. So his prayer is not honest. At that moment, Hamlet enters quietly and sees Claudius praying. This is Hamlet's chance.
- Claudius is alone. Hamlet can kill him. He takes out his sword. But then he stops. He thinks, "If I kill Claudius while he is praying,
- maybe his soul will go to heaven." Hamlet does not want that. He wants Claudius to suffer punishment for his crime.
- So, Hamlet decides to wait. This is one of Hamlet's biggest mistakes. He has the chance, but he delays again.
- Hamlet is a man of deep thought, but sometimes deep thought becomes a prison. He thinks so much that action becomes
- difficult. Meanwhile, Queen Gertrude calls Hamlet to her room. She wants to speak to him about his
- behavior. Polonius hides behind a curtain in the room so he can secretly listen. Again, someone is spying.
- Hamlet enters his mother's room angry and emotional. He wants to force her to see the truth. He speaks strongly to her.
- He tells her that her marriage to Claudius is shameful. He compares his noble father with his corrupt uncle.
- Gertrude becomes afraid. She thinks Hamlet may harm her. She cries out. Polonius, hiding behind the curtain, also cries out for help.
- Hamlet hears the voice. He thinks it may be Claudius hiding there. In a sudden moment of anger, Hamlet
- takes his sword and stabs through the curtain. >> [clears throat] >> But it is not Claudius. It is Polonius.
- Polonius falls and dies. Hamlet has killed the wrong man. This is a turning point. Before this, Hamlet was mostly thinking,
- planning, and waiting. Now blood has been spilled, but it is not the blood of the murderer. It is the blood of Ophelia's father.
- This mistake will create more tragedy. Gertrude is shocked. Hamlet is also shocked, but he does not fully stop.
- He continues speaking to his mother. He tells her to look at her actions. He asks her to stop living in sin with Claudius.
- He wants her to understand how wrong everything has become. Then suddenly, the ghost appears again. Only Hamlet can see it.
- Gertrude cannot see the ghost. To her, Hamlet looks truly mad. The ghost reminds Hamlet not to forget his purpose.
- It also tells him to be gentle with his mother. Hamlet tries to explain, but Gertrude is terrified.
- She thinks her son has lost his mind. Before leaving, Hamlet asks his mother not to tell Claudius that his madness is only an act.
- But now everything has become more dangerous. Polonius is dead. Claudius is frightened.
- Gertrude is confused. Ophelia will soon be destroyed by grief. And Hamlet's plan for revenge has started a chain of events that cannot
- easily be stopped. Chapter 3 Death, madness, and Hamlet's return. After Polonius is killed, the whole
- palace becomes full of fear. This is no longer only a story of secrets. Now it is a story of blood.
- Hamlet has killed the wrong man. Polonius was not the murderer of King Hamlet. He was not the real enemy.
- But because he was hiding behind the curtain, spying on Hamlet and Gertrude, he became part of the danger. And now he is dead.
- Queen Gertrude is terrified. She runs to King Claudius and tells him what happened. She says Hamlet killed Polonius.
- Claudius becomes deeply worried. But his worry is not only for Polonius. His real worry is himself. He thinks,
- "If I had been hiding there, Hamlet would have killed me." Now, Claudius understands that Hamlet is not just strange. Hamlet is dangerous.
- Hamlet knows something. Hamlet may expose him. Hamlet may kill him. So, Claudius decides that Hamlet must leave Denmark
- immediately. But, he does not want people to think he is cruel. Hamlet is loved by the people.
- If Claudius punishes Hamlet openly, the public may become angry. So, Claudius makes a secret plan. He decides to send Hamlet to England.
- On the outside, it looks like he is sending Hamlet away for safety. But, inside, Claudius is planning murder.
- He sends Rosencrantz and Guildenstern with Hamlet. They are Hamlet's old friends, but now they are working for the king.
- Claudius gives them a sealed letter for the English king. The letter contains a secret order. When Hamlet reaches England, he must be
- killed. This is the darkness of Claudius. He killed his own brother. He stole the throne.
- And now he wants to kill his nephew, too. A guilty person does not stop at one crime.
- He commits another crime to hide the first one. Meanwhile, Hamlet has hidden Polonius's body.
- Claudius sends people to ask Hamlet where the body is. Hamlet answers in a strange and sharp way. He jokes about death.
- He speaks about worms eating the bodies of kings and common people. His words sound mad, but there is truth inside them.
- Hamlet is thinking deeply about life. He understands power, beauty, money, pride, and status all end in the same place.
- Death makes everyone equal. A king can become dust. A rich man can become dust. A poor man can become dust. This is one
- reason Hamlet is such a deep story. It does not only ask, "Who killed the king?" It asks, "What is life?
- What is death? What is the meaning of power? What remains when everything ends?" Claudius becomes impatient.
- He sends Hamlet away quickly. Hamlet leaves Denmark with Rosencrantz and Guildenstern. But Hamlet is not foolish.
- He does not fully trust them. He knows the palace is full of betrayal. He knows Claudius is dangerous. During the journey, Hamlet finds the
- letter from Claudius. He secretly opens it. Then he discovers the truth. The letter orders his death.
- Hamlet realizes that Claudius has sent him to England to be executed. Now Hamlet sees how far Claudius is willing to go.
- This is not only fear anymore. This is a war of survival. So Hamlet uses his intelligence. He changes the letter.
- He writes a new order. Instead of Hamlet being killed, Rosencrantz and Guildenstern will be killed.
- Then he seals the letter again. This is a dark moment. Rosencrantz and Guildenstern were once his friends. But they chose to serve Claudius.
- They carried a letter that would send Hamlet to death. They may not fully understand everything. But they allowed themselves
- to become tools of a murderer. In Hamlet's world, trust is almost dead. Friends become spies. Family becomes danger.
- Love becomes confusion. The palace becomes a place where nobody is fully safe. Then something unexpected happens.
- Pirates attack the ship. During the confusion, Hamlet is separated from the others. He's taken by the pirates.
- But instead of killing him, the pirates make a deal. They return him to Denmark. This is very important.
- Claudius wanted Hamlet gone. Claudius wanted Hamlet dead. But Hamlet is coming back. The man Claudius tried to remove is
- returning to the place of revenge. While Hamlet is away, another tragedy grows in Denmark. Ophelia begins to lose her mind.
- This is one of the saddest parts of the story. Ophelia was innocent. She did not murder anyone.
- She did not create the secret. She did not ask to be used in political games. But she suffers because of the actions
- of others. Her father, Polonius, is dead. The man she loved, Hamlet, killed him. Hamlet also spoke cruelly to her before.
- Her brother, Laertes, is away in France. Her heart cannot carry so much pain. So Ophelia slowly breaks. She begins to act strangely.
- She sings sad songs. She speaks in broken meanings. She gives flowers to people. But each flower has a meaning. Some
- flowers represent memory. Some represent sorrow. Some represent regret. Some represent betrayal. Her madness is different from Hamlet's
- madness. Hamlet's madness is partly an act. But Ophelia's madness is real. She is not pretending.
- Her mind is broken by grief. This shows something very painful. When powerful people play dangerous games, innocent people often suffer the
- most. Hamlet wants revenge. Claudius wants power. Polonius wants control. But Ophelia
- loses everything. Soon Laertes returns from France. Laertes is Ophelia's brother and Polonius's son.
- When he hears that his father is dead, he becomes furious. He does not think slowly like Hamlet. He does not ask many questions.
- He does not wait for proof. He wants revenge immediately. He enters Denmark with anger. The people are ready to support him.
- They shout for him. They want answers. Laertes storms into the palace and demands the truth.
- He asks, "Where is my father? Who killed him?" Claudius sees danger.
- Laertes is angry, strong, and ready to act. But Claudius is clever. He does not fight Laertes. He uses him. Claudius tells Laertes that Hamlet
- killed Polonius. He also makes Laertes believe that Claudius is innocent. Slowly, Claudius turns Laertes's anger
- toward Hamlet. This is another example of Claudius's manipulation. Manipulation means controlling someone's
- emotions or thoughts for your own benefit. Claudius knows Laertes is in pain. He knows Laertes wants revenge.
- So, he uses that pain as a weapon against Hamlet. Then, Ophelia enters. Laertes sees his sister's madness. His anger becomes even
- deeper. It is not only his father now. His sister is also destroyed. He sees Ophelia singing and speaking
- strangely. He cannot believe what grief has done to her. His heart breaks.
- He wants someone to pay for this pain. Then another terrible thing happens. Ophelia dies. Queen Gertrude brings the news.
- She says Ophelia fell into a river. She had been near the water holding flowers. A branch broke. She fell in.
- Her clothes spread around her in the water for a short time. But then the clothes became heavy and she drowned.
- Whether it was an accident or suicide is not completely clear. That makes her death even more tragic. Ophelia's life ends in sadness,
- confusion, and loneliness. She becomes one of the most heartbreaking characters in the story. She was surrounded by people, but not
- truly protected. Her father controlled her. The king used her. Hamlet hurt her.
- Her brother was away. And when her mind broke, nobody could save her. Laertes is destroyed by her death.
- Now his anger becomes stronger than before. Claudius sees his chance. He tells Laertes that Hamlet has
- returned to Denmark. This surprises everyone. Hamlet is alive. Claudius's plan to send him to death has
- failed. Now Claudius becomes afraid again. He knows Hamlet is still a threat. So he and Laertes create a deadly plan.
- They will not attack Hamlet openly. They will hide murder inside a friendly event. They plan a fencing match.
- Fencing is a sword fighting sport. Laertes is very skilled with a sword. Hamlet is also trained, but Laertes has a dangerous advantage.
- Laertes will use a sharp sword instead of a normal safe one. Even worse, the tip of the sword will be covered with poison.
- If Hamlet is scratched even a little, he will die. Claudius also prepares another plan. If the sword plan fails, he will put
- poison in a cup of wine. During the match, Hamlet will be offered a drink. So, Hamlet will have two hidden dangers
- waiting for him. A poisoned sword and a poisoned cup. This shows how evil Claudius has become.
- He does not fight with honor. He hides behind plans. He smiles while preparing death. He uses grief. He uses friendship. He
- uses sport. He uses trust. Everything becomes a weapon in his hands. Meanwhile, Hamlet returns to Denmark
- changed. He is no longer exactly the same person. Earlier, he was full of confusion. He thought too much.
- He delayed action again and again. But after facing death on the ship, after discovering Claudius's letter, and after surviving danger, Hamlet seems
- calmer. He begins to understand that human beings cannot control everything. Life can change in one moment.
- Death can come at any time. A plan can fail. A journey can change. A person can be saved by accident.
- A person can be destroyed by a small decision. Hamlet begins to accept that there is a power beyond human planning.
- He becomes more ready to face whatever comes. Then Hamlet and and walk through a graveyard.
- This is one of the most famous scenes in the story. Grave diggers are preparing a grave. They speak in a simple and almost funny
- way, even while digging among bones. This creates a strange feeling. The scene is about death, but there is also dark humor.
- Hamlet watches them and thinks deeply. Then one grave digger throws up a skull. Hamlet picks it up. He learns that the skull belonged to
- Yorick. Yorick was a court jester when Hamlet was a child. A jester was a person who entertained the royal family with jokes
- and performances. Hamlet remembers Yorick. He remembers sitting on his back as a child.
- He remembers his jokes, his laughter, his life. Now only a skull remains. This moment touches Hamlet deeply.
- He realizes that even the funniest, most lively person becomes silent in death. Beauty ends. Power ends.
- Laughter ends. Childhood ends. Life passes. This scene makes Hamlet think about how temporary everything is. Kings, clowns,
- lovers, warriors, and ordinary people all go to the same earth. Then a funeral arrives. Hamlet and Horatio hide and watch.
- At first, Hamlet does not know whose funeral it is. Then he realizes it is Ophelia. The woman he once loved is dead.
- Hamlet is shocked. Laertes jumps into Ophelia's grave in grief. He cries out in pain. He says he loved his sister deeply.
- Hamlet cannot control himself. He comes forward. He says he loved Ophelia, too. He says 40,000 brothers could not love
- Ophelia as much as he did. Then Hamlet and Laertes fight near the grave. This is a powerful and painful moment.
- Both men are grieving. Both men are angry. Both have lost someone. Both want to prove their love. But love mixed with pride becomes
- destructive. The funeral becomes a scene of pain, anger, and confusion. Hamlet's return has now created the final conflict.
- Laertes wants revenge. Claudius wants Hamlet dead. Gertrude is confused and worried. Horatio remains loyal.
- And Hamlet, after all his thinking, pain, and delay, is walking toward the final trap. He does not know about the poisoned
- sword. He does not know about the poisoned cup. But he knows danger is close. He can feel that the story is moving
- toward something serious. Still, he no longer wants to run. The prince who once questioned everything is now ready to face what
- comes. Chapter 4 The Poison Duel and the Fall of Denmark
- After Ophelia's funeral, the darkness in Denmark becomes even heavier. Hamlet now knows that Laertes hates him. Laertes has lost his father.
- He has lost his sister. In his heart, he believes Hamlet is the reason for both tragedies. But Hamlet also carries pain.
- He did not want Ophelia to die. He did not plan to kill Polonius. He is trapped in a world where every secret creates another wound.
- Later, Hamlet speaks with Horatio. Horatio is still the only person Hamlet truly trusts. Hamlet tells him what happened on the
- ship to England. He explains how he found the secret letter from Claudius. The letter ordered the English king to
- kill Hamlet. This proves that Claudius is not only guilty of killing Hamlet's father. He also tried to kill Hamlet.
- Hamlet changed the letter and escaped death. Now he understands that Claudius will never stop.
- A murderer who wants to protect his crown will keep creating more death. Then a courtier named Osric comes to Hamlet.
- He is polite, fancy, and full of empty words. He brings a message from King Claudius. The king has arranged a fencing match
- between Hamlet and Laertes. Hamlet is invited to fight Laertes in front of the court. On the outside it looks like a friendly
- match, a sport, a royal entertainment, a chance to show skill. But behind this match, Claudius and
- Laertes have already prepared death. Laertes has a sword with a poison tip. Claudius has a poisoned cup of wine. If the sword does not kill Hamlet, the
- drink will. Horatio feels worried. He tells Hamlet that something feels wrong.
- He says Hamlet does not have to fight. He can refuse. But Hamlet is different now. Before, Hamlet was full of delay.
- He questioned everything. He waited. He overthought. But now he has accepted that life is uncertain.
- >> [clears throat] >> A person cannot control every moment. A person cannot escape death forever. Hamlet says, in simple meaning,
- "If it is time, it is time. The important thing is to be ready." This shows that Hamlet has changed. He is not fearless because danger is
- gone. He is calm because he has accepted danger. The match begins. The court gathers.
- King Claudius is there. Queen Gertrude is there. Laertes is there. Hamlet is there. Horatio watches with worry.
- Before they fight, Hamlet speaks to Laertes. He apologizes for hurting him. He says that his madness caused pain.
- He does not fully explain everything, but he tries to make peace. Laertes accepts his words on the surface.
- But inside, he still follows the plan. The swords are prepared. One sword is safe. One sword is poisoned.
- Laertes secretly takes the poison sword. The duel begins. Hamlet fights well. He scores the first hit.
- Claudius acts happy. He says Hamlet is doing well. Then he offers Hamlet the poison drink. But Hamlet says he will drink later.
- The first plan fails. Then Hamlet scores again. Queen Gertrude is proud of her son. She takes the cup of wine.
- Claudius becomes nervous. He knows the cup is poisoned. He says, "Gertrude, do not drink." But she does not understand the danger.
- She drinks. This is one of the most tragic moments in the story. Claudius prepared the poison for Hamlet,
- but the poison touches his own wife. Gertrude does not know she has just drunk death. The duel continues.
- Laertes becomes more desperate. Finally, he wounds Hamlet with the poison sword. Now Hamlet is poisoned.
- But during the fight, the swords are are Hamlet gets Laertes' poisoned sword. Then Hamlet wounds Laertes with the same poisoned blade.
- Now both men are dying. Everything happens very quickly. Queen Gertrude falls. She cries out that the drink was
- poisoned. Then she dies. Hamlet is shocked. The truth begins to come out. Laertes, dying from his own poison,
- feels guilt. He understands that the plan has destroyed everyone. He tells Hamlet the truth.
- He says the sword was poisoned. He says the king is responsible. Now Hamlet finally knows everything clearly.
- There is no more doubt. No more waiting. No more thinking. No more hiding.
- Claudius is guilty. Claudius killed his father. Claudius tried to kill him. Claudius poisoned the cup.
- Claudius caused the death of Gertrude. Claudius used Laertes' grief as a weapon. In his final anger, Hamlet attacks
- Claudius. He wounds him with the poisoned sword. Then he forces Claudius to drink from the poisoned cup.
- Claudius dies. At last, Hamlet has taken revenge. But the revenge comes too late. Too many people are already dead.
- Polonius is dead. Ophelia is dead. Gertrude is dead. Laertes is dying. Claudius is dead. And Hamlet is dying, too.
- As Laertes dies, he forgives Hamlet. He also asks Hamlet for forgiveness. Both men understand that they were trapped in a bigger tragedy.
- They were enemies at the end, but both were victims of lies, anger, and manipulation. Hamlet's body becomes weaker.
- The poison is working inside him. Horatio sees that Hamlet is dying. He becomes heartbroken. He wants to drink the remaining poison
- and die with his friend. But Hamlet stops him. Hamlet tells Horatio to live. This is very important.
- Hamlet does not want the truth to disappear with him. He wants Horatio to tell the real story. Because if nobody tells the truth,
- people may misunderstand everything. They may think Hamlet was only mad. They may think Claudius was innocent. They may never understand the murder,
- the betrayal, the poison, and the pain. So, Hamlet asks Horatio to stay alive and explain everything. A little later, Prince Fortinbras of
- Norway arrives. He has been passing through Denmark with his army. When he enters the palace, he sees a
- terrible scene. The royal family is dead. The court is silent. The kingdom has fallen into tragedy.
- Fortinbras is shocked. Hamlet, before dying completely, gives his support to Fortinbras as the next ruler of Denmark.
- Then Hamlet dies. The young prince, who spent the whole story searching for truth, finally becomes silent.
- Fortinbras orders that Hamlet should be honored like a soldier. Hamlet was not perfect. He made mistakes. He delayed. He hurt people. He
- killed the wrong man. He allowed his pain to affect innocent people. But he also suffered deeply.
- He searched for truth in a palace full of lies. He carried grief that nobody understood. He faced betrayal from family, friends,
- and power. And in the end, he exposed the corruption that was destroying Denmark from inside.
- Hamlet is a tragedy because almost everyone loses. Revenge does not bring happiness. Secrets do not stay hidden forever.
- Lies may give power for some time, but they also create destruction. Claudius wanted the crown, but the crown could not save him.
- Polonius wanted control, but control could not protect him. Ophelia wanted love and peace, but she was broken by the actions of others.
- Laertes wanted revenge, but revenge destroyed him, too. And Hamlet wanted justice, but justice came with a terrible price.
- This is why Hamlet is so powerful. It is not only about a prince taking revenge. It is about the danger of corruption,
- the pain of betrayal, the confusion of the human mind, the weakness of delay, the cost of revenge, and the truth that a broken family can
- destroy a whole kingdom. Hamlet teaches us that truth matters, but how we search for truth also matters.
- Justice matters, but revenge can burn everything around it. Thinking matters,
- but too much thinking without action can become a prison. Love matters, but love without honesty and protection
- can become pain. In the end, Hamlet's story leaves us with one deep lesson. When lies sit on the throne,
- peace cannot live in the kingdom. And when the heart is full of revenge, even victory can feel like loss. That is the unforgettable tragedy of
- Hamlet. >> Mhm.
